have driven me to do something. So, here I am, ready to share the
journey ahead with you…”

Alicia Holmes is an avid investor and successful entrepreneur who is deeply motivated to help women of color pursue financial freedom. She has also successfully coached individuals and groups on money management, getting out of debt, purchasing homes, and understanding investing.
Beginning as a twenty-one year old with virtually no financial assets and very moderate income from working in the non-profit sector, she became a self-made millionaire within the following twelve years. By the age of forty-five she achieved complete financial independence.
Ms. Holmes graduated with a BS from New York University’s Stern School of Business and an MPA from New York University’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. She also worked at New York University for over 20 years and eventually held the position of Director of Financial Operations.
In the course of her work, she managed more than 30 million grant/institutional dollars. Her focus for the state and university sponsored programs was the improvement of the life outcomes of young people in under-served communities. Inspired by her wish to help others, Ms. Holmes has conducted numerous seminars on financial literacy and wealth building for university students, parents, and local groups.

Journey to Wealth was founded by Alicia Holmes to give women of color the tools to free ourselves, our families, and our community from the vicious cycle of financial uncertainty. Wealth is not exclusively reserved for the lucky or privileged – it is also available to those who properly plan and prepare for their future. Our programs will teach you how to develop the financial knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behavior to build wealth.
Generation after generation, even with income and educational gains over the past several decades, most African Americans are unable to break the cycle of financial insecurity. We frequently feel trapped in complex and often discouraging financial situations that make it seem impossible to achieve financial stability, generate wealth, or build a financial legacy for our families. Journey to Wealth was inspired by the desire to uplift women and our communities for economic success and financial liberation.

I learned to pay myself first which was a huge commitment. Through this commitment to myself, I’ve learned to reduce stress and not only respect myself more, but money itself.”
“In the beginning I was afraid. Most pressing and depressing issues were my student loans. Within a month of working with Alicia, I gained the confidence necessary to contact my loan representatives and face my fears. One of my golden nuggets from this course has been, saying no, to say yes to myself.”
“As my family started to grow, Alicia Holmes was instrumental in the development and implementation of a financial plan that led to debt reduction and the eventual purchase of a beautiful home by a lake in New Jersey. Her no-nonsense approach to financial security was anchored in the premise that positive change starts with accepting responsibility for our own decisions around money and how we use it. She taught me that I will either spend my life paying compound interest or retire off compound interest gained through effective savings and investments. I must admit that I was reluctant to embrace some of her teachings in the beginning, but I now teach these same concepts to my children so that they will be properly prepared when they become adults.”
